Barnaby's story
Barnaby arrived in remarkably fine fettle for a bear of his years, still wearing the navy knitted sweater someone once pulled carefully over his ears — complete with a little bear's face and a red bow stitched to the front, as if he wanted the world to know exactly who he is. His oatmeal fur is soft and full, his stitched nose neat, and he sits up straight the way well-brought-up bears do. He has the look of a bear who spent his years on a bed rather than a shelf, hugged often and kept tidy. He's been gently machine washed and now he's looking for a home with someone with room for one more story. Under the sweater, Barnaby's torso and arms are made of a blue fabric.
