Greengage Hollow

The Lou Rankin Friends patch and the still-legible printed care tag put him somewhere in the 2000s — young enough that his pile stands up, old enough to have settled permanently into his slouch.

Greengage Hollow's story

His face makes two claims at once: a chin tipped up as though he's just been asked something, and a mouth stitched in one long level line that declines to answer. Lou Rankin drew him that way — the name pressed into the small leather patch on his left foot, the printed care tag still crisp at his back, which says he was kept rather than hauled about. The green plush is short and dense, gone a shade deeper across the shoulders and down the outside of both thighs where he sat against something and stayed sat. Toe tips lightly flattened from the same habit. Washed, brushed out by hand, every seam checked.
