Heather's story
Some bears are brown. Heather is a whole hillside at dusk — mauve, rose, and smoke-grey mingled through her fur, with fine gold threads that catch the light the way late sun catches on wet grass. She comes from the Mayberry workshop of the mid-nineties, when somebody clearly decided one color was not nearly enough. Her burgundy ribbon has kept its sheen, and her paw pads are cut from rust-orange corduroy, sturdy and soft-ribbed as a favorite jacket. She's been lightly steam cleaned and her fur has sprung back full. Now she's looking for a home with good evening light, and someone with room for one more story.
