Juniper insists she grew up in a valley where the acacia trees leaned so low she could nibble them without stretching, which is why her neck stayed so agreeably short. Whatever the truth, this Precious Moments giraffe wears her patches like a well-loved quilt — russet and cream plush that has softened at the cheeks from being cradled face-first. Her cream muzzle and belly have gone the faintest ivory, and the tuft of a mane between her ears stands up stubbornly no matter how it's smoothed. Her embroidered eyes still shine dead center. Hand-washed and combed out, tag intact and legible at her seam.
