Mallowburra Grove's story
Mallowburra Grove will tell you — in the unhurried way of someone who has never once been in a rush — that he dug the deepest burrow on the whole heath, and lined it with the softest leaf-fall he could find. His coat backs the claim: a dense dusky grey, flecked silver at the tips like frost that never quite melted, and worn a shade smoother across the broad of his back where a sleepy hand came to rest again and again. His plush nose has that velvety suede nap softened at the edges. Short, low, and solid on four tucked feet, he waddles toward whoever will have him. Bathed, nose eased flat, every seam checked.
