Pemberton Quill's story
Rumor has it Pemberton Quill once kept the weather in a lighthouse-keeper's parlor, nodding gravely at every barometer and predicting rain by the ache in his stitched shoulders. His coat tells the calmer truth: a dense curly cocoa shag, deepening to near-espresso down his back and shoulders while his chest and cheeks have paled to warm milk-chocolate under years of holding. Small black bead eyes sit close above a slim embroidered nose gone soft at the edges. His long limbs flop obligingly, weighted enough at the paws to sag into a lap. That Gund 'America's Teddy Bear' flag tag is still whole at his seam. Washed and combed through by hand, seams firm.
