Sugarhouse's story

Sugarhouse tells it that he often tended the fires at a Vermont maple boil, keeping the sap simmering through the long March nights until the syrup ran amber. His coat wears the part: a shaggy pale-honey plush, tousled into loose steam-caught curls across the crown, gone faintly grey along one shoulder where the smoke supposedly drifted. His muzzle and both broad soles are ivory velvet, still clean and soft underfoot. A stitched black nose sits full above his slim embroidered smile, and the navy Vermont Teddy Bear tab reads bright and whole at his side. Long-limbed and gently floppy, washed and combed by hand, seams sound. He's ready for quieter evenings now.
